Last Saturday saw the winning and runner up teams from each league come together to play against each other in the inaugural end of Long Mat season knockout competition, and whilst all the games were fiercely fought, everyone that attended enjoyed themselves and are already looking forward to next season.

Impressively, we saw Techniheat teams take away the champion of champions 2024 titles for both pairs and fours but getting there wasn’t easy!

There were eight teams of 4 and four pairs competing on the day in a knockout format, that saw teams play against each other to get to a pairs final and a fours final.

In the fours final, generously sponsored by Etherow IBC member, Mike Anderson, spectators witnessed Team Techniheat take on team Hyde Tigers and emerge victorious after a fiercely fought game that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Meanwhile the Techniheat pairs team battled it out against team United in the Pairs final, generously sponsored by Etherow IBC member, Gerry Thackrey. Team Techniheat were marching ahead with a 16-4 lead half way through the game before the crowd witnessed an amazing comeback by United ultimately bringing the final result down to the final bowls on the last end, which saw the game stood at 16 across going in to this final end. Ultimately Team Techniheat managed to secure the point they needed to take the win and emerged as 2024 Pairs Champion of Champions.

A massive congratulations to all our finalists and league winners, the winning teams in each league were:

Monday Fours League: Hyde Tigers

Wednesday Fours League: Manor Park B

Thursday Fours day League: Woodley

Thursday Fours evening League: Mighty Ducks

Friday Pairs League: Old Millers

These teams will have their names engraved on league trophies in addition to the Techniheat teams who will have their team name engraved on the knockout trophies provided by our kind sponsors Mike and Gerry.
